Bengaluru: HAL police arrests software engineer for morphing picture of woman

The accused has been identified as Boranchi Raju, a resident of Begumpet in Hyderabad.

BENGALURU: HAL police have arrested a 26-year-old software engineer for allegedly morphing the picture of the woman, after she had turned down his proposal, and emailing it to her family members and her fiance.

The accused has been identified as Boranchi Raju, a resident of Begumpet in Hyderabad. According to the police, Raju was arrested based on the complaint filed by his classmate in September.

“The accused and the complainant were classmates and friends while studying for B.Tech in Hyderabad and later also did internship in Hyderabad. The accused had the proposed to her and she had turned it down. Sometime back she had given him her laptop for repair and Raju had stolen her photo from it,” the police said.

Later, the woman moved to Bengaluru. “About eight months ago, using the stolen photos he had morphed nude pictures, posted it on Facebook and tagged her. When the woman threatened to file a police complaint he removed it,” the police said.

After the incident, the complainant started avoiding him. Six months ago, Raju contacted her on phone posing as an Intelligence Bureau official and got her email ID and password.

While scanning her mails he got to know that she was going to be engaged in December and got very upset. Raju sent morphed photographs of her to her fiance and family members. Then they approached the police, the police added. Based on the IP address and call details, the accused was traced to Hyderabad and arrested on Wednesday.
