Bengaluru: Robbery case cracked in hours, two arrested

The accused duo came in a car and offered lift. Later they allegedly threatened him inside the car and robbed Rs 1,300 in cash.

Bengaluru: In a swift operation by Hoysala staff and Yelahanka police, two miscreants were nabbed within hours after committing a robbery.

The accused have been identified as Mahesh and Kumar. Police said the complainant, Uday Kumar Reddy, a private company employee and a resident of Bagalur, was waiting for a vehicle at Yelahanka to go home late on Saturday night.

The accused duo came in a car and offered lift. Later they allegedly threatened him inside the car and robbed Rs 1,300 in cash and pushed him out of the vehicle. Reddy immediately reported the matter to the police control room and it was passed on the information to the nearest Hoysala vehicle.

“The ASI of Hoysala number 206, Venkatachala, along with a constable and a home guard started search for the vehicle used by the accused. A constable, attached to Yelahanka police station, also began the chase on his Cheetah patrolling bike. Within a few minutes, they found a car moving suspiciously near Kogilu Cross and stopped it. When the occupants were detained and interrogated, they confessed to the robbery,” the police said.

Teen caught for stealing phone
A 16-year-old boy was caught while he was trying to escape after stealing a mobile phone from a house in Nandini Layout on Sunday morning. Police said the incident happened at 8 am.

The accused minor ventured to the second floor of a building, owned by one Nagaraj, and stole a mobile phone through the window. As he was trying to escape, the neighbours found him and nabbed him.

He was beaten up. On being alerted the police rushed to spot and freed the boy. “His parents were contacted and they admitted that the boy has a habit of stealing mobile phones. Action as per the Juvenile Justice Act has been initiated against the boy,” the police added.
