Dyaneshwar Patil raped the 23-year old when she was alone in the house.

Thane: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly several times raped by a relative, who tried to murder her also, following which four persons were booked, police said on Saturday.

The victim was staying with her paternal aunt Shalubai Patil, her husband Raghunath Patil, and sons Dyaneshwar Patil and Vandeo Patil, in Junadrukhe locality of Bhiwandi taluka, District Rural Police said. On May 3, 2010, upon finding the woman alone in the house, Dyaneshwar Patil raped her, they said.

Dyaneshwar's parents later threatened the woman not to divulge the incident to anyone, and said that they would get her married to him, police said, adding after which Dyaneshwar raped her many times.

On May 13, 2015, he took the woman to a creek in Kharbaon area, and tried to push her into the water, but she managed to escape, they said. The victim's brother was turned away when he asked the family about her marriage with Dyaneshawar, they said. Dyaneshwar again raped the woman when she tried to confront the accused, they said.

A case has been registered against Dyaneshwar, his parents and brother under relevant sections of IPC, they said, adding no arrests have been made yet. Further investigation is underway in the matter, police said.
