Bengaluru: A head constable attached to the HAL police station was trapped by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials, while accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 from a complainant, who had sought police help in vacating his sister from his house following a court direction.

Manjunath Achari is the arrested head constable. ACB officials said a resident of Whitefield had approached the HAL police and filed a complaint that his father has a three storey building in Annasandra Palya and his sister had fraudulently got gift deed from his father. He had moved the court, which had passed order in his favour. Despite court direction, his sister was illegally staying in the house and he wanted police help to vacate her.

“The accused policeman had demanded Rs 1 lakh to do the job. The complainant had filed a complaint, and we laid the trap and caught Achari on Thursday,” an official said.
