THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Medical College police has arrested a four-member gang including two women for allegedly blackmailing a government servant after forcibly photographing him with a woman in nude. They are suspected to have extorted lakhs of rupees from many victims in a similar fashion.
The suspects were identified as Anu, 26, of Pulukkal, Anayara; Sanu, 19, of Kattela; Sheeba, 30, who resides near Chackai ITI and Deepa, 36, of Thoppil Nagar, Kumarapuram. The accused had wooed the Kumarapuram victim through a woman named Maya during their train journeys. He was lured to a rented house at Kumarapuram where the men pushed him to a room with a naked woman.
He was stripped, photographed and the gang demanded Rs 4 lakh to avoid the pictures uploaded on social media. The victim who did not want his family to see the picture offered to give them money. His mobile phone and money worth Rs 10,000 were taken away. He offered to pay the rest of money at his office.
On reaching his workplace, he mustered courage and informed his colleagues who approached police along with him. Further, police took the accused into custody. Two more are wanted in the case. The suspects confessed that they had extorted several lakhs of rupees from eight people in this manner.
