Hyderabad: Students say hostel staff beat them

APVP leader N Jagan said that the hostel warden, cook and two teachers had beaten up a few students.

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Sri Chaitanya College, Dilsukh nagar branch with ABVP activists staging a protest and demanding action against hostel staff for allegedly beating up a few students a day earlier. Activists barged inside the campus and ransacked furniture in the hall and the principal’s office.

APVP leader N. Jagan said that the hostel warden, cook and two teachers had beaten up a few students. “The assault took place on Friday evening. Students were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Family members also came and demanded stern action against them,” he said.

Both sides filed police cases against each other. Student leaders said that the college had implemented an undeclared holiday and made all inmates leave fearing wrath of students and parents.
