Hyderabad: Cricket bookie and gang nabbed

The team apprehended the gang after a tip off and handed them and the seized material over to the Bahadurpura police for further action.

Hyderabad: The commissioner’s task force of central zone arrested a cricket betting bookie and his gang of five on Saturday and seized a television, six cellphones and cash of Rs 1,41,500 from them.

The arrested men were identified as Kuldeep Sharma, 34, a bookie, Mahesh Beeradhar, 30, Neelash Kumawath, 26, Gajendar Agarwal, 27, G. Prasanth, 28, and Maneesh Agarwal alias Lucky, 43.

“Bookie Kuldeep is a habitual cricket gambler. He and his gang were organising cricket betting with huge amounts of cash. For this purpose Kuldeep had arranged facilities in his house at Sainagar and kept his equipment there. One Monu who is the main organiser used to collect money from Kuldeep Sharma. He is now absconding. We are trying to track him down,” said deputy commissioner of police of commissioner’s task force B. Limba Reddy. The team apprehended the gang after a tip off and handed them and the seized material over to the Bahadurpura police for further action.
