The red sander was seized from a container found in the vessel SSL Bharath on Tuesday evening following a tip-off.
The police had claimed that the woodcutters who were carrying red sander logs had opened fire on them.
Kochi: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 13.5 tonnes of red sander logs worth over Rs 7 crore from the International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT), Vallarpadam. According to DRI officials, the red sander was seized from a container found in the vessel SSL Bharath on Tuesday evening following a tip-off. “The ship was sailing from Chennai to Sharjah and the container with red sander was loaded from Kattupalli port in Tamil Nadu. Vallarpadam transhipment terminal was a transit point the vessel,” an official said.
