Hyderabad: The Marketing Intelligence Team of Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad has arrested an online fraudster named Amjed Sohail Ahmed who had cheated a man on the pretext of a government tender notice from the Centre for Development Studies, New Delhi, by posting an advertisement on Tender247.com and in a leading newspaper's Jaipur edition.
The lost money of the victim has been frozen with the bankers. Amjad Sohail Ahmed, 44, is a resident of New Delhi.
On 15 July, Mr T. Srinivas Raghu, the Executive Director of AP Productivity Council, Banjara Hills said that he got registration for government tenders on tender247.com and paid an amount of Rs 17,000 for a year. Believing the accused, the complainant had transferred an amount of Rs 1,00,000 to different bank accounts. The bank manager of Jubilee Hills Branch told the complainant that the transactions are suspicious which led to the complainant lodging a complaint.
The accused Amjad Sohail Ahmed was arrested by D.D. Sudha, inspector, Special Operation Group, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. The modus operandi of the accused was to post tender notices online through websites like tender247.com and tendersinfo.com on the pretext of Government Tender Notices from the Centre for Development Studies. The accused had cheated many people by collecting money dishonestly. He used accounts in three different banks to avoid suspicion.
