Sharath's wife told him that they should drop her to her place as it was very late.

Bengaluru: A senior architect who objected to three minor boys passing lewd comments on his female friend was brutally punched with knuckle rings and robbed in Kodihalli, early Thursday.

Though the juveniles escaped from the spot on a motorcycle after assaulting Sharath M.G. (34), a resident of Koramangala, the Jeevan Bima Nagar police managed to arrest them after Sharath filed a complaint.

Sharath told Deccan Chronicle that he along with his wife, who is a scientist, had been to a pub and restaurant for dinner in Indiranagar on Wednesday late night.

After finishing dinner, as they were walking out of the restaurant, the couple saw a girl, who was later identified to be a software engineer, in an inebriated state and unable to walk. Sharath’s wife told him that they should drop her to her place as it was very late.

The duo took her in their car to Kodihalli where the techie stayed in a paying guest accommodation. Sharath and his wife helped the techie step out of the car while Sharath’s wife took her to her room on the second floor of the building.

While Sharath was waiting at the car, three juveniles aged between 16 and 17 who are watching them, started passing lewd comment on the drunk girl. Since they were minors, Sharath warned them not to speak and said he would call the police.

As soon as he took out his mobile, one of the juveniles pounced on him and snatched his mobile phone, while another boy took out knuckle rings from his pocket and punched Sharath on his face and other parts of the body.

Though Sharath shouted for help, the security guard of the building who was watching the fight did not intervene. However, the boys escaped in a motorcycle when Sharath’s wife along with other PG occupants rushed to help. Sharath who sustained injuries on his face approached the J.B. Nagar police and lodged a complaint.

The J.B. Nagar police have booked a case against the trio under section 384 (extortion) arrested juveniles and produced them before a court, which sent them to state-run correctional home.
