Man held for sexually harassing woman cop

Police said the constable met Amin in November 2015, when she had gone to Vijayapura for PSI and KAS exam training.

Bengaluru: The Upparpet police have arrested a man for duping and sexually harassing a woman police constable. She had filed a police complaint on June 7.

The accused, identified as Amin Saab, a native of Bagalkot, was produced before the court.

Amin got into a relationship with the 24-year-old woman traffic police constable, hailing from Sindhnur in Raichur district, by promising to marry her. He later backed off and started threatening her.

Police said the constable met Amin in November 2015, when she had gone to Vijayapura for PSI and KAS exam training.

The two often met for group studies and became friends. They soon got into a relationship and Amin promised to marry her. She introduced him to her family members.

In 2016, when she had gone to her sister’s house in Vijayapura he had come there while she was alone and sexually assaulted her.

Later after she had returned to Bengaluru, the accused once came and booked a room in a lodge in Majestic. He tricked her to meet him in the lodge, where he forced her to have sex with him.

Later he backed off from marriage and began threatening her family members. She also claimed he was messaging her obscene videos and photos.

Fed up with his behaviour, the constable lodged a complaint. He immediately went into hiding and on Thursday the police caught and arrested him.
