Hyderabad: Chatrinaka police arrested a man who was absconding after raping a minor girl living in his neighbourhood.
Falaknuma additional commissioner of police M.A. Rasheed said the accused was identified as Mateen Khan, 46, an auto driver who resides in the house adjacent to the girl’s house.
“Mateen was arrested on Tuesday for molesting and raping the minor. The girl never complained about it as she did not understand what was happening,” ACP Rasheed said. “He planned to repeat the offence with the victim on the pretext of offering her chocolates and when the girl obliged, he began walking with her and started sexually harassing her on the way. But the girl’s aunt noticed and raised an alarm. Based on a complaint, we arrested the accused from his residence in Jangamet.”
The ACP said the accused had been residing in the area for a year and was always bringing chocolates to offer to the girl, but nobody suspected anything untoward.
