Girl succumbs to suspected dengue in Namakkal

The girl's health condition worsened in the evening and affected by fits, she was rushed to Namakkal government hospital.

Namakkal: In continuing deaths caused by mystery fevers, a six-year-old girl died of suspected dengue near here on Saturday. Roshini, daughter of Logeshwaran and Divya of Ganapathi Nagar at Kondisettipatti in Namakkal district and a class one student of a nearby government school, was suffering from high fever since Friday, informed sources said. The girl's health condition worsened in the evening and affected by fits, she was rushed to Namakkal government hospital.

As her health condition did not recover, poor Roshini was referred to the Salem government hospital and reached there by 2 pm on Saturday. However, she died while on the way to hospital. On knowing about the incident, Namakkal district health officials rushed to Ganapathi Nagar and set up a special camp on Saturday. Officials also ordered clean up of the surrounding areas and began mosquito control measures.
