Four die in road accidents in Bengaluru

Police said the deceased, Shivanna, 48, was riding pillion, while his son Thippesh, 22, was riding the bike.

BENGALURU: Four people died in separate accidents while three were injured in Whitefield, Yelahanka and Madanayakanahalli traffic police station limits since Saturday night.

In the first accident, a 48-year-old cancer patient and his 22-year-old son died on the spot after their bike was knocked down by a speeding water tanker on Sunday noon on Vaidehi Hospital Main Road in Whitefield.

Police said the deceased, Shivanna, 48, was riding pillion, while his son Thippesh, 22, was riding the bike. On Sunday, they went to Vaidehi Hospital for a check-up and the accident happened while they were returning. Passersby alerted the police who rushed to the spot and arrested the lorry driver, identified as Yellapa.

Engineering student dead
A 21-year-old II year engineering student succumbed to his injuries in the hospital while his friend is said to be critical when the duo lost control over the two-wheeler, rammed into median and hit by a cab on Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 8.30 am at Yelahanka traffic police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Dharmesh Patel, son of V.B. Patel and a resident of JP Nagar, while the pillion rider has been identified as Abhishek, 21.

According to the police the accident happened near Jakkur, the rider lost balance, hit a median and fell on to the other side. They were hit by a car moving towards airport. They got injured and were shifted to Columbia Asia hospital but later Dharmesh succumbed.

Driver killed, two injured
A 50-year-old driver of a Tata Sumo got thrown out of the vehicle and died on the spot, while the co-passenger sustained injuries after he lost control over the vehicle, hit a median and collided with a car in Madanayakanahalli police station limits on Sunday.
