Chennai police launch search for body dumped in well

Following a heated quarrel, Ragu reportedly told the cops he had stabbed Vignesh with a knife and the latter died on the spot.

Coimbatore: The city police have launched a search for the body of a 25-year-old jewelry shop staff who was mysteriously killed and dumped in a well in suburbs of Coimbatore.

Police said, Vignesh, 25, a resident of Sulur and working in a jewelry store in Town Hall. Vignesh had not returned home since he went for work on April 3. His father lodged a missing person complaint, triggering the cops’ investigation.

Meanwhile, Ragu, 19, one of his friends, surrendered before the police on Friday claiming responsibility for the death of Vignesh.Ragu told the Police that Vignesh had joined him for a drink on April 3rd night in a desolate place near Sulur and both were soon locked in a drunken brawl. Following a heated quarrel, Ragu reportedly told the cops he had stabbed Vignesh with a knife and the latter died on the spot.

Ragu dumped the body in an abandoned well in the same area and filled it with lot of garbage. Few days ago, Ragu through his friends came to know about police searching for the offender and had surrendered before the Sulur Police. However, Singanallur police lodged a murder case after it was transferred to its jurisdictional station and are searching the well for the body of poor Vignesh.
