Drunk meat seller dies after scuffle

He had a meat shop in Aziz Bagh.

Hyderabad: A meat trader who came to his old shop in the Golconda area to collect dues died suspiciously, police said. The trader, Asif, who fell down during an argument with one Rafeeq, died on Saturday.

Police said the deceased, Mohammed Asif, 32, was a resident of Hakimpet. He had a meat shop in Aziz Bagh. Recently he sold his shop to another meat trader named Rafeeq but some money was due to him. On Saturday night, Asif came to his old shop to collect the dues of around Rs 5,000. He was heavily drunk at that time.

When Asif asked Rafeeq to pay the dues an argument broke out between them leading to a scuffle.

“During the scuffle Rafeeq pushed Asif. Asif fell on the ground and became unconscious,” said Golconda inspector Khaleel Pasha.

Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police said there were no injuries on Asif's body.

“There is not even a small injury. We have to wait for the autopsy report to know the reason for the sudden death,” the inspector added.

Based on a complaint from his father Md Yakub, a murder case was registered and the body was handed over to the family after postmortem. Police apprehended Rafeeq for investigation. Asif is survived by his parents, wife and two children.
