Fund was also diverted in the name of relatives of Civil Police Officer P Shailaja, he said in the complaint.

Kochi: Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court on Tuesday directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to conduct an inquiry against three police women, including the Thodupuzha Sub Inspector, following complaints of fund misappropriation against them. The court directed the VACB Idukki DySP to conduct probe against Sub Inspector A Sainaba, Civil Police Officers K H Nishamol and P Shailaja and file a report before January 31, 2017. According to the petition filed by Thodupuzha native V S Abas, the police officials “diverted” funds allocated from the SC/ST Welfare department annually for probing cases against SC/ST persons during 2014-2015.

He claimed that the trio, using fake invoice and vouchers, diverted around Rs 2.5 lakh out of Rs 3 lakh received from the department. The police officers allegedly submitted a voucher claiming that Rs 1.24 lakh was given to Abdul Karim, brother of Sub Inspector Sainaba as taxi charge for travelling to various locations as part of investigation. Similarly, Rs 84,000 was allegedly given to relatives of Civil Police Officer Nishamol for travelling to various places for the probe. Fund was also diverted in the name of relatives of Civil Police Officer P Shailaja, he said in the complaint.
