Police obtained CCTV footages from the area, but the faces were not clear since the attack took place at night.

KANNUR: Five CPM workers allegedly attacked a Yuva Morcha leader from Kannur due to political rivalry on Monday night. Yuva Morcha Kannur constituency secretary Sharath, 23, was hacked and bleeding profusely before being taken to AKG Hospital here. He was later shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. Sharath was one of the accused in an attack on the CPM party office in 2014.

However, police said the accused, who came in two bikes, targeted another Yuva Morcha worker Pushparaj, who fled on seeing CPM workers from Pallikkunu. Pushparaj was an accused in an attack on CPM workers in the area. Police obtained CCTV footages from the area, but the faces were not clear since the attack took place at night. Town police is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, BJP Kannur district president V.
