Hyderabad: Traders stage stir on Putlibowli road

The road at the Putlibowli and Badi Chowdi area is narrow and street vendors have also encroached it.

Hyderabad: The ongoing Metro Rail works have turned the road at Putlibowli and Badi Chowdi topsy-turvy. Residents and traders said that the road is not levelled despite assurances. The residents and the traders have staged a protest against this.

The Traders’ Joint Action Committee has submitted 20 representations to the Hyderabad Metro Rail. However, works have not been carried out. Mr Govind Rathi, chairman of the committee, said, “The road is not levelled despite the assurances. Though the pillar work has been completed, levelling of the road is not done.” The road at the Putlibowli and Badi Chowdi area is narrow and street vendors have also encroached it.

A senior engineer said, “The repairing work is moving at a snail’s pace due to the narrow width of the road. Besides, there were a lot of overhead wires, which are also hindering the work as they prevent easy movement of cranes and other heavy equipment.”

Lack of street lights is also a cause of worry. Mr V Kishan Yadav, president of committee, said, “There are no street light in the Badi Chowdi area and it is dangerous.”
