3 held for helping Nayeem's mother-in-law in human trafficking ops

The SIT is probing how many children were trafficked.

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team has arrested three people including two registered medical practitioners for helping gangster Nayeem in his human trafficking operations.

The suspects had helped Nayeem’s mother-in-law buy a newborn girl from a couple from Miryalaguda. RMPs Ramesh and Shafi helped the couple sell their baby to Nayeem’s mother-in-law Sulthana for Rs 50,000.

The trade happened four months ago, when Mirya-laguda native Miravath Dat-tu’s wife M. Manga delivered the child at the government hospital, police said.

Sources said the couple did not want a girl child. The RMPs then contacted Sulthana, who was willing to buy the child. Officials said the baby has now been rescued and besides the RMPs, the baby’s father Dattu was also arrested.

It had come to light that Nayeem was running a trafficking racket with young women from villages. The SIT is probing how many children were trafficked.
