Bengaluru: Woman, kin assaulted by neighbours for feeding strays

The cops were informed who then visited the spot on Wednesday night.

Bengaluru: A kind of feeding stray dogs turned nightmarish for a 21-year-old woman in North Bengaluru’s Mahalakshmi Layout on Wednesday night, after some local residents verbally abused and physically assaulted her.

The incident took place at 8th cross in Mahalakshmi Layout. The victim, identified as Tarini, approached the police on Thursday morning and registered an FIR against two men and few others.

In her complaint Tarini stated, “It all started with feeding strays in my area. Last evening when I was feeding them two men, along with others, assembled there and began harassing me. They started hurling abuses. When I objected, they began misbehaving with me.”

Tarini told Deccan Chronicle, “One of the persons from the crowd pushed me, pulled the dress. When my mother and sister came to my rescue, they attacked them as well. My sister was hit by bottle while they manhandled my mother.”

The cops were informed who then visited the spot on Wednesday night.

However, the victim said though the police had initially agreed to take a complaint, but later allegedly told her not to feed the dogs.

On Thursday morning, the complainant approached the police and lodged an FIR. In her plaint, the victim has also expressed that she has been threatened by the people in the area and demanded police protection.

The jurisdictional police have registered a complaint and begun investigation.
