Kerala: 23 hurt in road accident

Kottarakkara police registered a case on the accident.

Kollam: As many as 23 persons were injured in an accident involving a police van and a KSRTC bus at Karikkom in Kottarakkara here on Wednesday. Samji, 28, of Karunagappally, who was gravely injured in the accident, has been admitted in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram while Rajesh Chandran, 30, Ratheesh, 30, and Prakash, 29, were admitted in Kottarakkara taluk hospital. All the injured are policemen from Adoor police camp.

The incident took place by around 11 am when a Malappuram-bound KSRTC superfast bus from Thiruvananthapuram hit the police van from behind while trying to overtake another vehicle. The policemen from were heading towards Thiruvananthapuram. Three women passengers in the KSRTC bus --Sindhu, Aruna and Vijila -- also sustained minor injuries in the accident. Kottarakkara police registered a case on the accident.
