Hyderabad: A 45-year-old man was arrested by the Rein Bazaar police on Tuesday for raping a nine-year-old relative of his. The accused was identified as Syed Mohiuddin Tanveer, 45.
Mohd Abdul Javed, the inspector of Rein Bazaar, said, “Earlier this year, in January, the girl’s parents had left her at a relative’s place and gone out for four days. During those four days, Tanveer sexually assaulted and threatened her. The victim kept mum out of fear and didn’t tell her parents anything when they returned from their trip.”
On Tuesday, when the girl’s mother asked her to stay with the same relative once again, she began crying and told her what had happened the last time.
The victim’s parents approached the police, who booked a case against the accused under provisions of the Pocso Act and other relevant sections of the IPC. He was arrested and sent to judicial remand on Tuesday.
The girl was taken to a private hospital and then to a Bharosa Centre.
