ACB home guard warned off man robbed of Rs 2000 notes

Mahesh came to Somajiguda with Rs 12 lakh in Rs 2,000 notes, believing that he would get an extra commission.

Hyderabad: ACB home guard S. Naresh, arrested on Friday, had called a person who was looking to exchange new notes for old, and tried to put him off track, Panjagutta police said on Saturday.

Police said main accused Dabbti Upender, 31, a car driver, lured the victim J. Mahesh to Hyderabad with the promise of a commission if he was ready exchange new notes with demonetised currency.

“Mahesh came to Somajiguda with Rs 12 lakh in Rs 2,000 notes, believing that he would get an extra commission. Two persons, D. Narasimhulu and Suragani Naveen, met Mahesh, took the cash and promised to return with the demonetised currency,” an officer from the Panjagutta police said.

Then, home guard Naresh called up the victim and told him that the ACB had arrested the duo. He told Mahesh to come to the ACB office and not go to the police. Police produced all the suspects before the court on Saturday.
