Visakhapatnam: Law College student case probe begins

The MVP Colony Police registered a case against Vijaya Babu on August 12, but no action has been taken so far.

Visakhapatnam: In reaction to criticism that the MVP Colony Police seem to be in no hurry to take action against G. Vijaya Babu, the DCP has instructed S. Bangarupapa, the Inspector of Harbour Police Station, to investigate the case.

Vijay Babu, a first-year student of law at a private college in the city, allegedly blackmailed his classmate using morphed images of her after she declined his proposal of marriage.

Malla Mahesh, the Inspector of MVP Colony Police Station, said that Vijay Babu and the victim had been lovers in the past and their relationship had recently ended.

After their break up, Vijay had continued to claim that he would marry her.

He had been harassing her over the phone and was using morphed images of her to blackmail her.

The MVP Colony Police registered a case against Vijaya Babu on August 12, but no action has been taken so far.

The victim has approached the DCP with the complaint that while the MVP Colony Police are investigating the case at a tardy pace, the accused is making arrangements to go abroad to avoid arrest.

The DCP has instructed officer Bangarupapa to look into the case.

Bangarupapa says that she has begun her investigation.

She dismisses allegations that the accused is preparing to flee.

“We will nab the accused as soon as we collect all the evidence,” she says.
