Nellore: Gudur police held 16 persons including 3 women involved in the recent murder of two brothers at Gudur. The incident had created ripples in the district as it was committed in broad daylight. Special teams formed by the authorities investigated the case and nabbed the accused. Sharing the details of the case to the media on Saturday, Gudur DSP V.S. Rambabu said that vengeance is the main cause for this.

According to the DSP, the accused and the victims are family members of Dega Narayana and Dega Ramaiah and they are involved in rearing the pigs. They also live close to each other. There are disputes between the two families from a longtime over grazing the pigs. In this backdrop, Ramaiah kin, Dega Pedda Jayaramaiah and Dega Chinna Jayaramaiah attacked Dega Narayana when he was returning home after rearing pigs at Indira Nagar in Gudur with lethal weapons, thus, killing him on July 5. Police have registered a case and arrested both of them and three other accused.

The accused came out of jail in October and members of the Dega Narayana family have been watching the movement of both Chinna Jayaramaiah and Pedda Jayaramaiah waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on them. In this backdrop, as many as 19 members of Dega Narayana family including three women attacked the duo when they were building a hut near their house at Indira Nagar on December 10 morning.

Police, who launched a search for the accused after the incident, held 13 men and 3 women on Saturday when they were hiding in the forest near Gudur following a tip off. Police also recovered two auto rickshaws, sticks and knives used for the murder from the accused. The DSP said they are on the lookout for three more accused in the case including a woman.
