A notorious rowdy Ambareesh and three minors are among the 10 arrested.

Bengaluru: A woman and her two brothers were thrashed by a local gang in Indiranagar when their bike accidentally brushed against one of the gang members on New Year's Eve. The hooligans were drunk. The incident came to light only on Tuesday, 16 days after the incident, as the victims did not file any police complaint. The police, however, arrested 10 members of the gang on Tuesday after they came across a video of the incident that has gone viral on social networking sites.

The Indiranagar police took up the case suo motu as the victims did not file the complaint. It is suspected that the video was uploaded by a rival gang.

A notorious rowdy Ambareesh and three minors are among the 10 arrested. The police are trying to trace the victims, who are said to be from the North-East.

The police said that on the New Year’s Eve, the gang members were drinking and partying on the streets at Mottappanapalya in Indiranagar 6th Stage. Around 12.30 am, the victims – a woman and her two brothers – were going on a bike when their vehicle accidentally brushed against one of the revellers.

The gang members immediately launched an attack on the three, including the woman. The two men fell from the bike, while the woman managed to get off. The gang started throwing punches at the rider and the other two repeatedly. The victims tried to run away, but the gang chased and thrashed them again.

A senior police official said that the incident was captured on a CCTV camera, which showed 10-12 members of the gang drinking and dancing in the middle of the road. They had blocked the traffic on the pretext of wishing people on the New Year. The 10 were arrested based on the CCTV footage, he said.
