Bengaluru: A City Armed Reserve (CAR) assistant head constable was suspended after he figured in a viral video, demanding groundnuts as bribe from vendors at Kadlekai Parishe (groundnut fair) in Basavanagudi.
DCP CAR (North) B.G. Timmannavar issued a suspension order to the cop after he was found guilty of dereliction of duty.
The DCP has said that the assistant head constable S.P. Mandakki, who was deputed for the security duty at the fair was found demanding groundnuts from the sellers in a video, shot by some shoppers.
It went viral on the social and electronic media platforms prompting the DCP to take action.
“We have examined the video and it has come to the notice that constable has misused his powers. He has been found guilty of dereliction of duty and thus he is suspended from the duty,” the DCP’s office stated.
The video shows Mandakki holding a bag and going to every seller and demanding groundnuts as bribe.
