Man held, stolen phones recovered

In addition to cases registered against him at Raidurgam, Madhapur and Meerpet under Section 380 of the IPC (theft).

Hyderabad: An auto driver who has been stealing cellphones since 2009, was nabbed by the Rajendranagar police on Friday at Aramgarh cross road.

Mohd. Jaweed, 38, a habitual offender had been arrested ten times in the past by different police stations for theft, said P.V. Padmaja, DCP Shamshabad. The officials recovered 30 cell phones, laptop and cash, all amounting to Rs 4.5 lakh.

Cellphones from brands like Apple, Lenovo, Moto, Vivo and Oppo were recovered. Jaweed, hails from China Chintakunta and lives in Tukkuguda. Jaweed had stolen cell phones in the past from Saroornagar, LB Nagar, Mailardevpally, Jubilee Hills, SR Nagar and others.

After serving his jail term, he would again commit theft in areas coming under Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates, with another person, Balveer Singh whom he met in jail during one of his jail stints.

In addition to cases registered against him at Raidurgam, Madhapur and Meerpet under Section 380 of the IPC (theft) in the past and a case has been registered at Rajendranagar.
