Anantapur: A class X student committed suicide at Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Simhadripuram mandal in Kadapa district. B.Venkateswari, 15, native of Diguvapalli village was found hanging to a ceiling fan at her hostel room in the wee hours on Thursday. Her roommates alerted the school authorities about the incident.
Simhadripuram police said no clues were found so far behind the suicide of the girl at her hostel room. The incident sparked tension after the parents and relatives of the girl rushed to residential school and blamed school authorities. Kadapa collector T. Babu Rao Naidu ordered for a detailed probe into the issue.
The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan state project director G. Srinivas ordered probe and sought detailed report from joint director Bharath Kumar and also Kadapa project officer. In the view of series of instances of suicides by the students in Kadapa, M.P. Y.S. Avinash Reddy said, “There are many doubts over the suicide of the tenth class girl at her hostel. The state government was not reacting in a responsible manner regarding series of suicides of students in the district.”
