Bengaluru: Bid to rob currency outlet foiled, 6 held

The Yelahanka police have registered a case and recovered the stolen car.

Bengaluru: The Yelahanka police have arrested six people and foiled a robbery at a foreign currency exchange outlet in Banasawadi police station limits.

The accused have been identified as John Christopher, 23, Abhishek, 20, Ashish Gowda, 20, Rahul, 19, Naveen Kumar, 19 and Manjunath, 20.

According to the police, on December 9, Ashish with five of his friends attacked a cab driver in Yelahanka and locked him in a room in Gundappa Layout and escaped with his car, worth Rs 7 lakh, and Rs 2,700 in cash. The victim, Nagaraju, 30, a resident of Nelamangala had registered a complaint with the Yelahanka police on December 10 and the police were on lookout for the accused.

The Yelahanka police caught them on Wednesday and found out that they were planning another robbery at Global Foreign Exchange Centre at John’s behest. John had previously worked at the same company and knew the details.

He wanted to attack the owner and escape with the money and had sought the help of this gang to commit robbery.

The Yelahanka police have registered a case and recovered the stolen car.
