Thrissur: Cops investigating the murder of RSS activist Anand at Nemini near Guruvayur on Sunday have arrested three accused in the case on Tuesday morning. The arrested are Fayis, 25, son of Saleem of Puthuveetil house, Jithesh aka Raman, 22, son of Nabarambathu Narayanankutty (both residents of Brahamakkulam near Guruvayur) and Karthik, 26, son of Areekara Kuttappan of Mannikkara near Chowalurpadi, Guruvayur.

Guruvyaur ACP P A Sivadasan said that the arrested trio were CPM loyalists and the murder was a retaliation to the murder of Fasil, elder brother Fayis, at Brahamkkulam allegedly by RSS men on November 4, 2013.  “More than politics, it is a murder to avenge the killing of Fasil four years ago. The arrested trio will be presented before the court on Wednesday after the identification parade.” he added.

Anand was the second accused in the Fasil murder case. The accused have presently been kept at the Peramagalam Station near Thrissur for questioning. The bike that the three assailants had seized from a passerby at Nemini to flee from the murder scene was recovered by the cops from Vadanappally. According to the police, the three arrested persons had planned to commit the murder for almost a week. The weapons used in the alleged murder have also been recovered from a place near Guruvayur.

BJP seeks CBI probe

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, who visited the house of the murdered Anand on Tuesday said that only a CBI probe could reveal the real conspiracy behind the murder and the case needed to be handed over to the agency. RSS district Karyavahak M K Ashokan, who is in-charge of Guruvayur, refuted the police version of the murder and said that it was a political one.
