Karnataka: Previous PU leak probes incomplete, says official

The police were not aware about the place from where the racketeers stole the question paper.

Bengaluru: The CID sleuths probing the second year PU chemistry question paper leak case have found out that the Tumakuru police had not even found out the modus operandi of the racketeers who leaked Biology question paper in 2013.

The CID, which is gathering details of the investigation carried out in the case, has come to know about this fact after questioning several policemen who were part of the investigating team. Sources said that though a chargesheet was submitted to the court, the police were not aware about the place from where the racketeers stole the question paper.

“The investigating team had arrested nine people including the kingpin Shivakumar and the accused were in police custody for several days. But the police do not have the crucial details of their modus operandi,” an official said.

“In this case, strangely, the investigating team has filed the chargesheet without mentioning the modus operandi of the accused. The loopholes in the investigation has worked in favour of the accused and they carried out similar offences after their release on bail,” the official added.

Meanwhile, K.S. Ranganath, Anil Kumar B, and Muralidhar K.M, who were arrested on Wednesday, are being questioned by the CID sleuths.
