Bengaluru: Three arrested for robbing police sub inspector during Cauvery riots

Shivarajkumar was robbed while he was proceeding towards a relative's house after duty.

BENGALURU: Three goons who had robbed two mobile phones from a police sub inspector (on probation) during the Cauvery riots have been arrested by the Byatarayanapura police.

The accused have been identified as Pratap Kumar, 21, a resident of Madduru, Kumal Singh, 19, a resident of Nayandahalli and Adarsh, 19, of ITI Colony. According to the police, the probationary police sub-inspector Shivarajkumar was deputed for bandobust duty on September 12, following violent protests over Cauvery water sharing dispute.

On September 13 night, Shivarajkumar was robbed while he was heading towards a relative’s house after duty. When he reached near Gopalan Mall, three people on a bike waylaid and robbed him of his two mobile phones and fled. “Shivarajkumar had filed a complaint in this connection with the Byatarayanapura police. The accused were traced and arrested.
