Couple saved from Saudi boss

Police booked a case against the couple's visa agent.

Hyderabad: Sultan Bazar police authorities have rescued a couple and another woman from Saudi Arabia, from forced employment. Syed Alam, 27, and wife Sajida Begum, 25, had gone to Saudi Arabia to work at an Arab national’s house on March 10. Syed Alam's visa had documented him as a driver while his wife had gone to the country as a domestic help. But they soon discovered their employers were rather cruel.

“The employers did not even allow the couple to meet each other. They went there on separate visas and could not prove to their employer they were in fact husband and wife,” said Shiva Shankar Rao, Inspector of Sultan Bazar.

Police booked a case against the couple’s visa agent. Sajida Begum, who arrived back in Hyderabad along with her husband, told police the employer’s wife also beat her up. The police were reacting based on a complaint filed by Alam’s brother.
