Imam's father abducted by three acquaintances in Patancheru

The family of the victim, Sheik Hussain, alleged the trio kidnapped him to steal the Rs 75,000 he had with him.

Hyderabad: A 50-year-old man, father of a local mosque’s imam, was allegedly kidnapped by three acquaintances in Patancheru. The family of the victim, Sheik Hussain, alleged the trio kidnapped him to steal the Rs 75,000 he had with him. Despite booking a case weeks ago, the police is yet to trace the victim.

Abdul Javvad, 27, imam at Isnapur Jamia Masjid, alleged the local police booked a missing case and sat on it for a month without taking any action. Sheik Hussain, who was running a tea shop, had gone missing on January 5. Some locals had seen him going in the autorickshaw of his acquaintance Machkuri Ravi on the same day.

“We lodged a complaint at the Patancheru PS the next day. Despite expressing the suspicion that Ravi and his two aides must have kidnapped my father they booked only a missing case,” said Javvad. Meanwhile, police said they have already started investigation into the case.

"We questioned Ravi but we could not get any lead. The first FIR is about a missing case and if we get clues about kidnap we will change it to kidnap," said a senior official from Patancheru PS.
