Hyderabad: Cops book former panel members of Nizam Club

Membership fees for government and private employees is Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh but they charged much higher.

Hyderabad: Police on Friday registered a case against former executive committee members of Nizam Club on charges of cheating, misappropriation of property and criminal intimidation.

Based on a complaint by club member Ramesh Dhir, the court directed the police to register a case against the club’s former president E. Rajender, former secretary M. Amarender Reddy, former joint secretary Karuna and others.

Mr Dhir had alleged that the committee, which was elected for the period 2013 to 2015, had committed breach of terms and misappropriation of funds of the club.

“As per the bylaws, any government employee can get membership by paying Rs 25,000 and private employees by paying Rs 1 lakh. But they collected Rs 1.5 lakh from government employees and Rs 3 lakh from private employees,” he said in his complaint.

The committee allegedly collected Rs 6.75 crores illegally from 150 members.
He saidd that the committee illegally allotted contract of a multi-level parking space for the club to Preca Constructions for an estimated value of Rs 8 crore.

“We are not aware of the case. So we cannot comment on it,” said club secretary Naresh Solanki.
