Illegal cigarettes seized in Guntur

The officers found some packages of cigarettes booked from Hyderabad to Guntur without any papers.

GUNTUR: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence of Vijayawada unit conducts raids on specific intelligence information and recovered 1,500 packages foreign make Cigarettes of ‘Djarum Black’ worth Rs 60 lakh in Guntur on Friday. As per the directions of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence of Hyderabad unit, additional director M.K. Singh along with Vijayawada unit officers conducted raids in a Guntur godown.

The officers found some packages of cigarettes booked from Hyderabad to Guntur without any papers and seized 85 mm size of 3 lakh cigarette sticks with brand name ‘Djarum Black’ which is made in Indonesia. They found another brand of Indian make ‘Sunil One’ which consisted 4.80 lakh cigarette sticks in different size in the same premises. The officials verified the books related to GST and legal import to India, but the consignment were not covered by GST invoice or Customs documents  which were handed over to Guntur  Commissionarate for further investigation.
