Hyderabad: Woman accuses husband of fraud and bigamy

K. Saraswathi said her husband Pankaj Lal Sukhia concealed his first marriage, married her, and later dumped her after taking her money.

Hyderabad: A 46-year-old housewife from Malkajgiri alleged that she was cheated by her husband who forged her signature and withdrew deposits from her bank accounts.

K. Saraswathi said her husband Pankaj Lal Sukhia concealed his first marriage, married her and later dumped her after taking her money. She filed a complaint with the police and a cheating case was registered. She alleged that cops and her advocate colluded with her husband and are trying to save him.

Saraswathi said that while she was working at an accounting firm, Pankaj, who was a client of the firm, became friendly and they got married in 2001. A few years later, he made her file I-T returns and using that, he made her take around Rs 14 lakh as loans from banks.

She said that although the loans were in her name Pankaj used the money. Saraswathi said she took credit cards from different banks which Pankaj used. He also broke FDs worth Rs 5.25 lakh and sold gold jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh.

“In 2010 I came to know that he was married before marrying me and had a family in Kavadiguda. I told him to leave me but he said that he will clear all loans and take care of me, but he cheated me,” she said.

She says that later her elder sister’s family lured Pankaj. “To keep him in their control my sister made her daughter have sex with him. A case was also registered. But he is influencing cops and advocates. Nobody is on my side. Even my own family and my advocate are also with him,” Saraswathi said.

She said that if she does not get justice suicide is the only way out for her and her eight-year-old daughter.

Police said the case was charge-sheeted and is under trial in court.

“We did our duty. Now it’s in court. So we cannot comment on it. The court will decide further course of action in this case,” police officials from Malkajgiri police station said.
