Fatal attraction: Jilted man kills married ex-girlfriend

She allegedly didn't want to abandon her kids by divorcing her husband.

BENGALURU: The Kamakshipalya police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend on December 26 when she refused to marry him as she wanted to take care of her two children and was not ready to divorce her husband.

The accused, Mohammed Mubbin, is from Sirsi in Karwar. The deceased, Taslima Banu, 29, was the wife of Abdul Razzaq and a mother of two children. She was also from Sirsi and was staying at Kabbehalla in Kamakshipalya.
Taslima and Mubbin were in a relationship in 2006 and were planning to get married.

The same year, Mubbin, who is a school dropout, was arrested on charges of theft and was sentenced to two years jail term in 2009. In 2008, Taslima’s parents married her off to a welding shop owner in Kamakshipalya and she shifted to Bengaluru.

Mubbin completed his jail terms in 2011, went to Saudi Arabia and started working as a driver. All the while, he kept in touch with Taslima and often sent her gifts from Saudi Arabia.

He came to Bengaluru on December 20 and as he was desperate to get married to Taslima, he asked her to meet him.

On December 26 morning, Mubbin visited Taslima’s house while her husband was away at work and her children at school. He asked her to divorce her husband and marry him. When she refused, he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and slit her throat. He also stabbed her in the stomach and back. After she died, he took all the gifts he had sent her from Saudi Arabia, including a gold chain and two bangles that she was wearing at the time of her death.

After the murder, he hid in different places, like Davanagere, Hubballi, Hyderabad, Goa and then went to Karwar. The Kamakshipalya police, who had kept track, arrested him on Tuesday. The police have seized the murder weapon and the gold ornaments.
