Mysuru: After threat call, security up for Tanveer Sait

Mr Sait himself spoke to media persons at his residence here on Wednesday and confirmed about receiving threat call.

MYSURU: Mysuru city police have beefed up security at the residence of Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait at Udayagiri here after he reportedly received threat call.

Mysuru city police commissioner Dr A Subramanyeswar Rao confirmed this and said the minister, who represents Narasimharaja constituency, is said to have received the threat over phone call on Tuesday. But Dr Rao refused to divulge any details.

Mr Sait himself spoke to media persons at his residence here on Wednesday and confirmed about receiving threat call.

“The call was from international number. The caller said that he was Ravi Poojari and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 crore and has threatened that he would kill me if I do not pay the money. I have already reported in this regard to Home Minister and DG,” he said.

The Minister said that only an investigation will prove whether the caller was Ravi Poojari or someone else and the reason behind the call. “There is no link between religious politics to this threat call. With elections and school exams ahead my focus is on that and I am not worried about this call,” he added.
