Bizman Gopalakrishna killed on Oct 29.

Hyderabad: Ten days after the murder of a businessman at his house in Kushaiguda, police found that a bank manager planned and executed the murder with the help of hired assassins.

The bank manager, Dunda Ravinder Reddy, 37, and the businessman’s wife, Settipally Naga Vineela, 26, were in a sexual relationship and they had secretly taken possession of the gold mortgaged by the victim. When the victim, S. Gopalakrishna, found out and threatened legal action against them, they murdered him, police said.

Vineela had quarrelled with Gopalakrishna and secretly started a live-in with Ravinder Reddy. She also became pregnant from Reddy, and this made her get rid of her husband. Police said that she let the assassins into the victim’s house and helped them execute the murder.

Police arrested Vineela, Ravinder Reddy and the five killers. On October 29, Gopalakrishna was murdered on the terrace of his house in Mangapuram Colony, Moula Ali. He had 54 stab injuries on his body. Police also found two bullets at the site.

“On that day, Vineela went to her house while the hired goons waited outside for her signal. Her husband was on the terrace with their three kids. Vineela took her kids down, promising to buy them crackers. As she gave the signal to the goons they went up to the terrace and attacked Gopalakrishna. One of them fired two bullets but it missed target. Then, they stabbed him to death,” said police commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat. “Reddy hired the goondas paying Rs 10 lakh,” he added.

Police said that Gopalakrishna owned a dairy farm but it was running up losses and crores were at stake. He mortgaged 3 kg gold owned by his wife. The bank manager happened to meet Vineela and got close to her during the transaction. Later, he helped her to take out a portion of the gold through a bidder as Gopalakrishna could never pay back and reclaim the gold.

Later, Reddy and Vineela started living together. Meanwhile, Gopalakrishna found out about the gold and threatened to file a complaint.
