Hyderabad: A 34-year-old husband who allegedly murdered his wife due to suspicions about her character was arrested by Mangalhat police on Friday. Police said that Arun throttled his wife Suman.
Arun Digambar and Suman, both from Karnataka, got married nearly 12 years ago. They came to Hyderabad five years ago with their three children. Arun was an alcoholic and often forced his wife to give him money for alcohol. Whenever she refused he used to beat her severely. As his behaviour did not change she started ignoring him. As a result he developed suspicions about her and started harassing her.
Last Friday, when he came home heavily drunk, she refused to give him food. He picked up a quarrel and started blaming her saying that she was neglecting him due to her affair. After the quarrel he went to his parents’ house. But since he could not get sleep he came back to his house and decided to kill his wife.
“When he found her asleep he strangled her with the sari she was wearing and after making sure that she had died he fled,” Mangalhat inspector R. Srinivas said. Police nabbed him from his parents’ house. He was remanded.
