1 held, 2 absconding in two separate rape cases

The man, identified as Uppari Raju, a plumber, kidnapped and raped a minor girl, police said.

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old migrant girl from Odisha was sexually assaulted by two drivers at Manchal. The police have registered a case and say that the accused are absconding.

According to Manchal police, the girl migrated to the state along with her parents about five years ago and lives in Bodakonda village. She was working at a brick kiln nearby.

On Tuesday, when the girl came out of the hut, two persons — R. Srinu and Mahendar, both lorry drivers, abducted her and sexually assaulted her. When the locals noticed them, the accused fled.

Manchal inspector B. Anudeep said, “The girl’s parents were initially apprehensive about lodging a complaint, thinking that they are non-locals, and might lose work. But, they have been counselled to give a complaint. A case has been registered under relevant Sections of IPC and PoCSO Act and the victim has been sent for medical examination.”

In another case, the Malakpet police on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old married man for abducting and allegedly raping a minor from his locality.

The man, identified as Uppari Raju, a plumber, kidnapped and raped a minor girl, police said.

“Raju sweet talked with the girl when she stepped out of to buy groceries and took her away. When she did not return for a while, the girl’s mother filed a police complaint and a search was launched to trace the girl,” said the Malakpet police inspector K.V. Subba Rao.

A case was booked and on Wednesday, Raju was arrested under section 363 (kidnapping), 376-2n (rape), 493 (Cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) of IPC and also under relevant sections of POCSO Act. He will be produced before the magistrate and is likely to serve jail time. The girl was also traced and handed over to her parents.
