Edathala custodial case: Usman denies statement by CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief Minister has informed the state assembly the other day that it was Usman who attacked the police first leading to retaliation from cops.

KOCHI: Usman, allegedly beaten up by police at Kunchattukara in Aluva, has denied the statement made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that he first attacked the police officials following an altercation over a minor accident. Speaking reporters from his hospital bed he said driver of the car was the first to hit him while he was talking to a friend sitting in his bike. Soon after others in the car also came out and joined the beating, he added.

Although the shopkeepers tried to prevent the beating, the people forced him to the car and brought me to the police station. Initially, I was not aware that they were police officials, he said. The beating continued in the police station and I shudder to think about the beating inside the police station, he said. Usman also said that he was not involved in a case connected with the incident in 2011. Chief Minister has informed the state assembly the other day that it was Usman who attacked the police first leading to retaliation from cops.
