CCB raids dance bar, frees 50 women

They used to force girls from Kolkata and Mysuru into prostitution after promising them jobs in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials raided a dance bar and restaurant on Residency Road and rescued over 50 women.

Based on a tip off, a team of officials raided and sealed the bar on Saturday night. CCB officials said the owner, Ganga Shetty, managed to escape. They said the accused had employed the girls to serve food, but he was forcing them to serve liquor and dance for customers.

Customers used to shower money on them, they added. The police have seized over Rs 5,000 in cash that was lying on the ground at the bar. They also arrested the bar staff, bouncers and some customers, who were present. The CCB officials have filed a case against the bar owner with the jurisdictional Ashok Nagar police station.

Prostitution racket
The CCB Police (Women and Narcotics division) have rescued four women from a prostitution racket and arrested six people in this connection. Based on credible information, the CCB raided Shiva Palace Deluxe Lodge at N.T. Pet on Mysore Road. The accused were allegedly operating a prostitution racket at the hotel.

They used to force girls from Kolkata and Mysuru into prostitution after promising them jobs in Bengaluru. The accused have been identified as Manjunath Gowda (29), a resident of Rajajinagar and a native of Siddapura, Mahesh H.L. (21) from Mandya, G Raghu (30), from Soundarya Nagar in city, Dharmendra Kumar (27) from Tumakuru, Ashraf (37) from Goripalya and Chand (24) from Kalasipalya. The police have seized 5 mobile phones, among other items used to operate the racket. The team was led by DCP S, Girish (Women and narcotics), CCB.
