Most of the boys detained are in the age group of 18-24. Among those detained is also a 15-year-old, police said.

Chennai: Almost a month after two videos of youngsters dragging metal barricades on city roads went viral on social media, Anna Square police have secured 11 youngsters.

Most of the boys detained are in the age group of 18-24. Among those detained is also a 15-year-old, police said. Those detained were identified as Baskar, Sajjaaph of J J Nagar, Guhan of Villivakkam, Abishek of Adambakkam, M.R. Abinesh of Madhavaram, Rohith of Korattur, Manoj Kumar of Avadi, Akash of Mathur MMDA, Karthikeyan of Mogappair West and Vijay of Mogappair East. All of them are students in various city colleges, police said.

Police said that they were tipped off about the persons in the video by an anonymous caller recently, more than a month after the videos went viral. Police, meanwhile, had arrested three other youngsters who posted a selfie video showboating about their act.

However, they were involved in a different incident and were not the ones who created ruckus during New Year's eve, police said.

The two videos went viral on January 4. They showed the boys dragging the metal police barricades on city roads for several hundred meters letting sparks fly by. The videos itself were shot by their fellow biker gang who indulge in the act, late night on Kamarajar Salai and Gandhi Mandapam road near Kotturpuram.

In one of the video, a pillion rider was seen dragging the barricade on Kamarajar Salai, much to the chagrin of other motorists. Both the occupants of the motorbike were not wearing helmets and the video was shot by their friends who were trailing them.

In another video, another group of youngsters indulged in a similar act on Gandhi Mandapam road and let off the barricades near the pavement.
