Srinivas Rao would be the sixth person in the case to present himself before the court of law.

Vijayawada: Chennupati Srinivas Rao, one of the key accused in the sextortion case that shook the State, on Monday, approached a court in the city with an intention to surrender himself. However, he left the court as he could not surrender due to technical issues. He is likely to surrender before the court on Tuesday.

The Machavaram and Task Force police had launched a manhunt to nab him in December. Srinivas has been absconding since December 11, when he, along with six others, were booked under various Sections, including 420, 376, 354A, 384, 509, 506, 120(b) of IPC.

He is named the third accused in the case registered at Machavaram police station following a complaint given by a woman to the commissioner of police. Srinivas Rao would be the sixth person in the case to present himself before the court of law.

Earlier, he appealed to the High Court for anticipatory bail and it was rejected. With no option left for him, Srinivas Rao has decided to surrender before the court of law.

Srinivas is the brother of a former MLA in the city. Despite not having good relations with the former MLA, he has political clout. Till now, Y. Rama Murthy, Bhavani San-kar, Dudala Rajesh, M. Satyanandam and Pendyala Srikanth were arrested in connection with the case while Venigalla Srikanth is still at large.
