Man chops off head of wife's ex husband, sets him on fire; arrested

The body was recovered by the Gurgaon police the very next day, but victim's identity was unknown until Tuesday when cops cracked the case.

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man, identified as Rohit, from Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area was beheaded and set ablaze by his former wife’s juvenile brother and her current husband, said the police on Wednesday.

The killers burnt the victim’s body in a pit in Gurgaon before burying his head in a public park in Dwarka, DCP (Outer district) Vikramjit Singh said. The police on Tuesday nabbed all the four persons allegedly involved in the murder.

Rohit had married Priyanka in 2013, but the marriage did not work out and ended in a divorce last year, said the victim’s father, Ashok Kumar.

In April this year, Priyanka married Mukesh, a driver with a private cab company in Gurgaon. “But after marriage, Mukesh heard from people that his wife was regularly meeting her former husband. Mukesh confronted his wife over the issue, but she refused to listen to him,” said the DCP.

Mukesh discussed the issue with Priyanka’s minor brother, Anand, and the duo hatched a plan to eliminate Rohit. They also roped in their friends — Ashraf and Vijay — and planned to kill Rohit on August 19.

As per the plan, Rohit was called by the accused persons to join them for drinks in Mangolpuri. Once the victim was totally drunk, he was lured into joining them for a long drive to Gurgaon. They reached an isolated stretch of road on the Dwarka-Gurgaon Expressway area and stopped the car on the pretext of freshening up.

“As soon as Rohit stepped out of the vehicle, Vijay approached him from behind and choked him, leaving him unconscious. They then beheaded him, threw his body in a pit on the roadside and set it ablaze,” said Mr Singh. The victim’s head was placed in a polythene cover and buried in a park in Dwarka.
