Kochi Police seize 124 passports from recruitment agency

City Police has launched recently operation overseas,' to crackdown illegal job firms.

KOCHI: The city police has busted one more illegal recruitment firm operating from Kadavanthra in Kochi as part of the ongoing crackdown named “operation overseas” against the recruitment firms working without proper credentials. According to a release by the police, the firm named Al-Karim Overseas Consultants and Trading Co Pvt Ltd was functioning without any regulatory approvals.

In the raids conducted by the shadow police team headed by sub-inspector V. Gopakumar on Thursday, the cops seized 124 passports, several copies of bio-data of job seekers, seals and other documents.

The police arrested 61-year-old George Thomas, a native of Vytila, the proprietor of the firm. The Kadavanthra police has also registered a case against him. The shadow police has conducted raids against 40 illegal recruitment firms functioning from the city in the past few weeks based on information received from the people and other sources, the release said.
